10 Ways I Use AI to Automate My WordPress Workflow

AI has completely changed how I build and manage WordPress websites.

A lot of people think AI is only useful for generating content, but that’s actually a small part of what I use it for. Today, AI helps me manage images, create SEO content, populate custom fields, organize taxonomies, and save countless hours on repetitive tasks.

I use SheetsPilot for all of the examples below because it allows me to work directly inside a spreadsheet-style view of my WordPress content, products, custom fields, and taxonomies.

Here are 10 practical ways AI helps me automate my WordPress workflow.

1. Edit Images Using Simple Prompts

Sometimes an image is almost perfect but needs a small adjustment.

Instead of opening Photoshop, I simply prompt AI to make the change.

Popular examples:

  • Remove the background from a product photo
  • Remove text or watermarks from an image
  • Add flowers to a garden photo
  • Add furniture to an empty room
  • Remove unwanted objects
  • Sharpen blurry images
  • Improve lighting
  • Replace a dull sky with a brighter one

These quick edits can turn an average image into a professional-looking asset in seconds.

2. Generate SEO Titles and Meta Descriptions

Writing optimized SEO titles and meta descriptions for hundreds of pages is one of the most repetitive tasks in WordPress.

AI is extremely good at understanding search intent and improving click-through rates.

In SheetsPilot, I can create a single rule that generates titles and descriptions while referencing other columns, taxonomies, and custom fields.

For example, on an interior design directory website, I can instruct AI to automatically include the designer’s city from a taxonomy. This ensures every title is optimized and locally relevant without requiring manual work.

3. Translate Content Inline

Many of the websites I work on are not in English.

Instead of copying content to external translation tools, I simply paste the content into WordPress and use AI to translate it directly inside the table view.

This makes it easy to work with multilingual websites and keeps everything inside one workflow.

4. Lengthen or Shorten Text Without Losing Meaning

One challenge designers face is maintaining visual consistency.

Sometimes one card contains 15 words while another contains 40 words, causing layouts to look uneven.

AI is excellent at:

  • Shortening long text
  • Expanding short descriptions
  • Matching content length across multiple items
  • Preserving the original message

This helps create cleaner and more balanced designs without manually rewriting every piece of content.

5. Change Image Ratios Without Aggressive Cropping

Clients often send images through WhatsApp, email, or their phone.

The problem is that the image ratio rarely matches the design requirements.

Maybe you need:

  • Square featured images
  • Vertical social media images
  • Landscape hero banners

Instead of aggressively cropping important parts of the image, AI can intelligently expand the image, add missing areas, and preserve the subject.

This allows me to quickly convert images between ratios while keeping the composition intact.

6. Enhance Images Automatically

Not every image needs editing.

Sometimes it simply needs to look better.

With one click, AI can:

  • Improve sharpness
  • Increase clarity
  • Fix brightness
  • Improve contrast
  • Recover shadows
  • Enhance colors
  • Reduce noise

The result is a more professional-looking image without spending time in photo editing software.

7. Generate Data for Repeater Fields

This might be my favorite AI workflow.

I use repeater fields extensively with ACF and other custom field plugins.

A common example is FAQs.

Recently, my SEO consultant recommended adding FAQ sections to every blog post.

Instead of manually writing FAQs for hundreds of articles, I created:

  • An ACF FAQ repeater field
  • A prompt describing how FAQs should be written
  • A rule that references the blog post title

SheetsPilot automatically generates relevant questions and answers for every post and fills the repeater field.

This feature alone can save dozens of hours.

8. Bulk Improve WooCommerce Product Content

Managing WooCommerce products becomes much easier when you can see everything in a spreadsheet view.

Instead of opening products one by one, I can edit them in bulk.

A recent example:

I wanted to add specific keywords to 20 product descriptions.

I simply created an AI prompt, selected the products, and let AI rewrite the descriptions directly inside the table.

The same approach works for:

  • Product titles
  • Short descriptions
  • Long descriptions
  • Specifications
  • Benefits
  • SEO content

9. Automatically Generate Featured Images for Blog Posts

Creating featured images used to be one of the biggest bottlenecks in content production.

Now I simply create a rule that combines:

  • The post title
  • My visual style guidelines
  • Brand requirements

AI generates featured images that match the style of the website automatically.

This is especially useful for large content sites publishing articles at scale.

10. Assign Tags, Categories, and Taxonomies Automatically

Taxonomy management is another task that becomes difficult as websites grow.

AI is surprisingly good at understanding content and categorizing it correctly.

For example, I recently built a cocktail directory.

Instead of manually assigning tags, I simply let AI analyze each cocktail and select the five most relevant tags.

The same workflow works for:

  • Categories
  • Tags
  • Product attributes
  • Custom taxonomies
  • Directory listings

This keeps content organized without requiring constant manual maintenance.

Final Thoughts

Most people think AI is about writing articles.

In reality, some of the biggest productivity gains come from using AI to automate the small repetitive tasks that consume hours every week.

Image editing, SEO optimization, translations, repeater fields, taxonomy management, product updates, and content generation can all be automated with the right workflow.

The real benefit isn’t just saving time.

It’s being able to manage larger websites, publish more content, and focus on higher-value work while AI handles the repetitive tasks.
